Overview

This 12-day/11-night package takes you to some of the most iconic and fascinating destinations in Egypt, including Cairo, Giza, Saqqara, and on a Dahabiya Nile cruise from Esna to Aswan.

Day 1: Arrive in Cairo and meet your guide. Check into your hotel and relax for the rest of the day.

Day 2: Visit the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, two of the most iconic landmarks in the world. Then, learn more about ancient Egyptian history at the Egyptian Museum.

Day 3: Visit Saqqara, home to the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the oldest pyramid in Egypt. Then, explore the ruins of Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt.

Day 4: Fly to Luxor and board your Dahabiya Nile cruise ship. Set sail for Esna, stopping to visit the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo along the way.

Day 5: Arrive in Esna and disembark from your cruise ship. Transfer to Aswan by road.

Day 6: Visit the High Dam, Philae Temple, and the Unfinished Obelisk. In the afternoon, take a felucca boat ride on the Nile River.

Day 7: Visit the Abu Simbel temples, two massive rock-cut temples built by Ramses II.

Day 8: Fly back to Cairo.

Day 9: Visit the Citadel of Saladin and the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar.

Day 10: Visit the Hanging Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue.

Day 11: Depart from Cairo.

Dahabiya Nile cruise

A Dahabiya Nile cruise is a unique and luxurious way to experience the Nile River. Dahabiyas are traditional Egyptian sailing boats that have been converted into luxury cruise ships. They are typically smaller and more intimate than other types of Nile cruise ships, with a more relaxed atmosphere.

Your Dahabiya Nile cruise will include six days and five nights of full-board accommodation. You will enjoy delicious Egyptian cuisine, prepared by your onboard chef. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, such as swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the villages and temples along the Nile River.

Tour Plan

Day 1 Arrival.

• Meeting and greeting at Cairo airport.
• Transfer to the hotel.
• Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 Giza Plateau - Egyptian Museum and the old Souk of Khan El-Khalili.

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• A visit to Giza plateau; the highlight site of the Pharaonic civilization which contains the three famous pyramids Cheops, Chephren, Mykerinos and the Sphinx.
• Egyptian Museum, the largest museum of Egyptology in the world which covers all periods of ancient Egyptian history.
• Khan El-Khallili Souk, a labyrinth of small alleys, animated day and night, which appeals to the senses through a mixture of images, sounds, scents and colors. Khan El-Khallili is the oldest bazaar in the world. It is occupied by traders from the 14th century
• Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 Saqqara-Memphis - Dahshour.

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• A vist to Saqqarah which is a vast funerary complex containing the necropolis of dignitaries and the Stepped pyramid of King Djoser (the founder of the 3 rd Dynasty, about 2700 BC.). This pyramid represents the first attempt at pyramid construction. It is considered to be the first construction in stone in the world.
• A visit to the site of Memphis which is the oldest political and religious capital of Egypt, founded in 3200 BC. by the legendary king Narmer, the first pharaoh of the first dynasty who unified the two lands of Egypt, (south and north of Egypt, upper and lower Egypt).
It is located on the eastern bank of the Nile, as the capital of Egypt for more than a millennium and a leading religious center. It is also the seat of the worship of the God Ptah.
• A visit to Dahshur: The Bent pyramid and the red pyramid, that built by King Senefro (founder of the 4 th dynasty and the father of the famous pharaoh Cheops). The style of these two pyramids makes it possible to follow the architectural evolution of the pyramidal design, illustrating the intermediate stage between the type of the step pyramid of Saqqara and the perfectly pyramidal type of those which are on the Giza plateau. You can enter the pyramid inside.

Day 4: Cairo – Luxor.

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Check out – transfer to Cairo airport or train station.
• Meeting and greeting at Luxor airport or train station.
• Transfer to the hotel in Luxor.
• Night at the hotel.
• A visit to Luxor temple in the afternoon.
• Back to the hotel.
• Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 A visit to the valley of the kings, the temple of Hatshepsut and the colossi of Memnon.

• Breakfast on board or breakfast box.
• There is a possibility to do a hot-air balloon ride, it is an aspect of the Egyptian tourist industry. Our tour company offers rides in hot air balloons to enjoy the view of ancient Thebes from air such as, the temple of Hatshepsut, the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens and many other temples and tombs. • An amazing visit to discover the wonders of the Theban necropolis, on the west bank of the Nile in Luxor; to visit the valley of the kings, the most wonderful and colorful tombs of the most famous pharaohs of the New Kingdom – 1550 -1057 BC, Hatshepsut temple (the unique temple of the lady – pharaoh) and colossi of Memnon 1370 B.C. Two gigantic statues were built at the entrance to the funeral temple of Amenophis III, in the west bank of Luxor.

Day 6 A Visit to Karnak temples & Embarkation on Dahabiya.

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• A visit to discover the biggest temple in the world, Karnak temple that dedicated to the God Amun.
• The God Amon reigned supreme over the Egyptian pantheon for almost 2000 years. Each sovereign wanted to leave, a tangible sign at Karnak, to the glory of the God Amon Ra.
• Check out from the hotel.
• Departure by road for Esna, home port of our Dahabiya.
• Embarkation on Dahabiya.
• Welcome by the crew on board.
• Sailing to Al-Hajz, navigation to the rhythm of the wind.
• Lunch on board.
• A real relaxation and enjoyment of the sunny atmosphere and landscape.
• Dinner and over-night on board in Al-Hajz.

Day 7 El-Hejz- El-kab – Edfu.

• After breakfast we will visit a historical site called El-Kab where, the old capital of ancient Edfu and some tombs cut into the rocks.
• Back to the boat and sail to the next destination.
• Lunch on board.
• A visit to the most well preserved and complete temple in Egypt (Edfu temple) which dedicated to the falcon headed God, Horus.
• Sailing to the next stop Ramadi.
• Dinner on board- overnight in Ramadi.

Day 8 Ramadi & Bassaw.

• Breakfast on board.
• A wonderful walk through the fields and we may have a nice talk with the farmers.
• Lunch on board.
• Sailing to Bassaw where we can have a walk to enjoy the landscape and the fields.
• Dinner and over-night on board.

Day 9 Fawza – Gebel El- Silsila - Fares - kom ombo.

• Silsila, the name Kheny or sometimes Khenu, means “The Place of Rowing”. It was used as a major quarry site on both sides of the Nile where from the stone blocks used for building the temples. (from 18th Dynasty to Greco-Roman times ). Silsila is famous for its New Kingdom stelas and cenotaph.
• Sailing to Fares for a beautiful walk in the new cultivated land in the desert.
• Lunch on board.
• Sailing to Kom Ombo to visit the dual (double) temple that dedicated to the crocodile God Sobek and the hawk God Horus.
• Dinner and over-night on board.

Day 10 Darraw - Herbiyab – Philae.

• Breakfast on board.
• Darraw has one of the largest camel markets ( Souq ) in Egypt. Most of the camels come in caravans from Sudan’s Darfur and Kordofan, along the Darb Al Arbaeen (Forty Days Rd) just north of Abu Simbel before being trucked to Daraw. It is a picturesque sight and fascinating to see the trading; sometimes there are as many as 2000 camels.
• Back to Dahabiya to sail to Herbiyab.
• Lunch on board.
• After lunch, a visit to the romantic island, located between the two dams Philae temple, that dedicated to the Goddess ISIS in Aswan.
• Get back to the boat to have dinner and enjoy our crew company evening on the island for the last night on board.
• Overnight on board a few miles north of Aswan.

Day 11

• Breakfast on board or breakfast box.
• There is a possibility to visit the most beautiful temple (ABU SIMBLE) and the highlight of your cruise. (Extra tour, not to be missed).
• On the way back, we will enjoy watching mirage phenomenon.
• Check out and transfer to the hotel in Aswan.
• Check in the hotel in Aswan.

Day 12 Departure.

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Check out from the hotel.
• Transfer to Aswan airport or train station.
